Greetings,
So I interviewed for a level 2 position at a company and the IT manager asked me what my desired salary was. When asked that question, I usually ask for a range so I know their budget and don't end up getting lowballed. However, the IT manager insisted I give a figure since it's easier that way, and I was like oh well and gave my desired salary based on my market value which was 23/hr. The I.T manager said ok and proceeded with the interview. A couple of days later I get a phone call from the IT manager saying they want to offer me a position and to verify, asks my salary requirement once again, to which I reply saying 23/hr. The IT manager was very nice through it all. A couple of hours later HR calls me to get me started with the onboarding process and says " you have agreed to 28/hr for this role, correct". I was shocked but was like hell yeah ( well without the hell) and now I'm proceeding to do the onboarding stuff. Should I mention and thank my IT manager for giving forward a higher salary than I asked for, or just move on from this. Thanks!
