I don’t have a relationship with my boss so I don’t expect much. I work hard. I come in an hour early, I never take lunch, I stay over everyday, I never take days off, & I usually work a bit on Sunday. When I took this job doing purchasing for state government I was coming from a completely unrelated field and knew I’d need to work hard to succeed. I put in lots of long hours but thought my hard work would eventually earn me a bit of slack. The only solution my boss can come up with to a problem is to give me more work. He’s trying to save money on Ups shipping. We used to buy certain supplies, stock them in our warehouse & distribute them to offices across the state. Now, I have to order these supplies for each individual office. That’s in addition to the orders I normally filled for them. My workload has tripled. I have no idea what the guys who used to ship things are going to do. It’s state government so they’re not getting fired. I’ve effectively taken their jobs though.
How lousy is my boss? My mom passed away. That’s the only time I’ve taken any time off in the time I’ve been here. I’d planned to come back on a Thursday but he requested me to come in and handle some special requests. He wanted to follow “standard procedure “ so unfortunately I’m the only person who handled these requests. I came in for a few hours Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday with no pay. Am I overreacting or is that BS?
