I've been offered a job in a seasonal role... but I might also be offered a permanent role with a different organization soon. I want both jobs. Should I let the seasonal job know?
Got a bit of a situation on my hands and just wanna check that I'm doing the right thing.
So in August-ish I was talking to 'Charity A' about working part-time for them. I was turned down for the position, but they said they'd keep my resume on file. Obviously I still need a job, so I kept job hunting and applied for a seasonal job with 'Charity B'. Charity B's job lasts from now until April next year.
Charity B was in talks with my references, so at this point I was assuming that I had the seasonal job in all but writing. That's when Charity A decided to contact me again.
Yesterday, Charity A called me and asked if I'm still interested in their position. I said I was, but let them know that I'm in talks with Charity B for a seasonal position; I'd love to work for them, and if I can work at both jobs that would be ideal. Charity A said that was fine, and that they'd get back to me in a few days. A few hours later, Charity B sent me a letter of offer, confirming I had the seasonal job.
Here's my dilemma. Charity B needs me to declare any perceived or potential conflicts of interest, which includes any other volunteer or paid work. I'm not working for Charity A, but I could be soon, as I fully intend to take whatever they offer me.
Should I let Charity B know about Charity A's offer? And if so, how should I go about it?
My partner suggested I mention it in an email to Charity B's HR department, and offer to fill out their Conflict of Interest form when, and if, Charity A actually gives me the job. I should also clarify that Charity A & B are not directly competing; for example, A is for homelessness and B is for cancer. So I'm not worried about the jobs interfering, more so on just the most professional way I should go about this situation.
