Boss expects me to be available 24*7 even at midnight and weekends. Sent me warning notices for being unavailable to work on weekend
So I have been working in this new company for a month, and I am a manager here. The next in charge are the company owners. We have clients from different timezones, and thus most client communication is done at night. They handle those I just have to manage office work flow and production
They have been expecting me to work 24*7, be available to receive their calls even when they call me at 1am or 3am. At weekends when I was unavailable for work, they became furious at me. This escalated when they expected me to pull an all nighter and still report to work the next morning. And I denied since my health was being affected because of this. They sent me a warning notices stating I don't show productive results during working hours. (Where as I do show results. I am just unavailable post working hours)
It is not just me, they have similar expectations from every other employees. They also give attractive incentives for everyone who does OT, like a huge sum of money. But for me the money can't be a motivating factor.
From their perspective. They are super workaholic and don't have any personal life. For them work is all they have, and they put their everything to make this stand. No family, no responsibilities, most of company owners are single bachelors living alone.
Yesterday after I left work, they called me back to the office for overtime. When I said I had some commitments of my own, they got furious saying, "I am never available in time of work. I always bail out"
I reported to the office, but I wasn't in a good mood, since I couldn't even have a meal after breakfast due to work pressure. On enquiring why I look so bad, I said I wasn't happy that I have been skipping my meals and eating junk cz of them. When I returned home late at night, they sent me a final warning mail, because of my behavior and not willing to work.
This is my first job, and as of now I made a lot of investments to move to a totally new place. I don't even have the support of my family, and am staying all alone..I can't leave this job instantly, atleast need some time to settle down in the new area and look for new options. Financially this job is a pretty good option. None other are paying such a decent amount.
But how do I talk about this situation to my seniors? And not get fired?
