I accepted an offer for a seasonal position that’s 17.50 an hour, and got an offer that’s higher pay with benefits. I cannot afford to turn it down. I live in a small town, so I don’t want to shoot myself in the foot or make enemies, but I can’t take a lead position that pays the same as a Walmart order picker.
I signed and accepted an offer for company A and now want to accept for company B.
I have done everything online and have not met these people in person, so that makes it a little bit easier. But I don’t know how to turn down the first company, and I feel like a massive jerk for doing this because the training is supposed to start in a couple of weeks. Whereas company B would not start until January, so it’s very well possible that company B could still change the start date or resend their offer. So I don’t think it’s that likely, I think I aced the interview and there’s a huge need for people in that industry so that works in my favor.
