New job doesn’t pay for 4 hours of offsite meetings each month?

Nearly everyone who works for these sets of stores would be entitled to overtime yet nobody gets paid at all it’s simply a rule we all deal with. These meetings are mandatory and via gossip from managers it’s so mandatory they’ve threatened jobs in private if someone wasn’t to show up. What’s the best thing to do in this situation? I’m still in the process of finding another job with the same career path but as we’re hourly employees it seems like we’re screwed until they get taken to court or we find employment elsewhere.
