A little background knowledge... I have been with my company for about five years now, while also attending school full-time. I graduated last year with my Bachelor's in International Business and am now in school to obtain my MBA with a management concentration (will be graduating with this next year). At this point I am wanting to dedicate myself to a career, and I *mostly* love the place I work and would like to keep working there if I can put my education to good use.
I found out today that my company is re-structuring and that my specific department will have new roles. My boss' current role will be rolled over to one of a similar position, but there is a new position above him that is being created that I really want since it's essentially what I've been going to school for.
I'm obviously worried about how my current supervisor will feel if he finds out that I will be competing with him and attempting to get this new position, which would then make me his boss... what advice can you give to help me with the interview process (I want to make sure I stand out), as well as preventing any 'bad blood' between my current supervisor and myself?
(I'm limited on how much information I can give due to some company policies)
