People who got jobs without networking/references, how did you do it?

I've been trying to search for a job but have struggled. Part of that might have to do with my lack or any form of Network or References at all. Growing up I wasn't really interested in extra-curriculars or making friends and it's left me without anybody to really rely on.

I'm also planning to move to another state in Australia at some point so this information would be nice to know at that point.

I'm just asking this for a little morale boost I guess. Just wondering how people went on to get jobs without any networking.

Some specific questions: 1. What was the job that you got? 2. How did you deal with your lack of network/references? 3. Did you have any experience? Skills? If you didn't, then what was the thing that got you that job?
