Moving from 15+ years in retail (most recently manager's position) to an Advertising Sales Executive position. What should I do to prepare?

Ultimately, I was fed up with retail. I have an interest in media as a whole and did 3 years of it in college but never went further than that, but I'd love to see progression in this particular role. That said, I'm mostly clueless as to what id be doing beyond the basic description. I start at the end of the month and wondered if anyone with experience could tell me what to expect and what to do to move up the ranks as soon as possible? Please. I have no intentions of sticking at a low position for any longer than a couple years, and will do all I can to move up.
