I’m really conflicted about my job. When COVID started I was cut back to part time, and after months of part time I couldn’t afford to continue working part time, so last December I start a new job I thought it would be a really good learning experience (For reference I have been working as a bookkeeper or doing payroll the last 3 jobs I had before this one starting around 2012) as well as add the time to the equivalent experience part of my resume (I do not have any formal education in accounting, although I have a nursing degree) In this new job I do AR, AP, HR, payroll, purchasing, shop supplies and office supplies, office manager, I answer phones, take messages, and basically anything else they need done. And I was right, this job is really good experience, but I am sooooo stressed out and already feel burnt out after 10 months. I don’t get PTO, and only get 3 sick days a year. While I can take time off if I need it, I don’t get paid for it, and I have to take off time more frequently than some because I am a single mother with a son on the spectrum, and obviously my kid comes first. I am paid below the standards for someone doing the same thing, but I have no degree, so, it will be hard to find a different position that I can get a better wage at. I want to quit so bad, the thought of having to go in to the office gives me anxiety and makes me sick to my stomach. I’m truly at a loss… do I stay at this job and ask them for more money even though it won’t change the way I feel or stop the anxiety…or should I just quit and fine a job that makes me happier, or at least less stressed? Is changing jobs again after less than a year going to hurt me professionally? I really need an outside opinion. Thanks
