How hard it is for a civil engineer to move to data scientist?

For a bit of background, I'm a young civil engineer that wants to change career. Was searching online about data scientist and got interested.

Now I realise being a data scientist means I have to be good at technology, programming, coding, things like that, which I have 0 knowledge of.

I'm thinking of getting a master degree and taking some programming courses like python, but my 0 knowledge and experience makes me hestitate whether or not I'll be able to do it.

Is it possible for a civil engineer like me to work as a data scientist? How hard will it be? What are the things I need to prepared for and aware of if I'm going to take this jump?
