So I had a meeting with a manager thanks to a friend who works at the same place for a houseman job. Well the manager took a liking to me to the point where she wanted make me a supervisor. So I get a call a couple days later from another supervisor saying they just want me to do houseman, which is fine. So when I come in to fill in some new hire paperwork I learn that I’m gonna be working two roles on alternating days, one is gonna be a bellman and other days I’ll be a houseman. They gave me the job title of concierge, at the same time they were gonna hold off on telling me starting pay.
Ok so yesterday I went in to finish last bit of paperwork and to learn the pay rate before my training. when I wanted to negotiate my salary one of the excuses used was that no one else is making above what is offered, also more pay usually means I would be doing more. He said he would ask the other manager to see if they can increase pay. So I started my training, one thing I noticed is the two guys training me has a job title of houseman/something, so I was the only concierge. It seems like I’m somewhat above them but they don’t want to pay me as such. Also, I noticed they all have Hilton shirts which I was told to get solid color polo on my own dime.
I wanted some advice on how I should handle this, I was first gonna ask what supervisor said about pay increase. Then judging by that mention that I have a different job title so I need a job description for my job title. As far as uniform I’m still not 100% if those are supposed to be provided, should I ask hr or another coworker
