Hello! This is an alt because I don't want people from my school to see this. Anyway! I've been unable to figure this out for years and want to seek help. I have one year left until I graduate high school, after which point I'm at a loss for what to do. During all this time, I've been thinking about what and who I want to be. A year ago, I found writing to be a very enjoyable activity and have since started working on my novel.
Great. That's great, I finally have purpose in life, but no stable income. While it would be my dream to be a successful writer and make a living by doing that, it's just too unrealistic for me to consider it as a serious option. I also don't like writing stuff besides my stories very much, so any job related to writing is pretty much off the table. From this stems the possibility that I might lose interest over time, something I don't want to happen but a reality that is most certainly not impossible.
My mother insists that I go to uni, and honestly, I wouldn't mind. If I can find a profession I want to get better at, that is.
During my life on this planet, I have managed to learn two languages, one native and english as a second language. A third is underway but this doesn't matter much either way. I also sit in front of the computer a lot, so I know a few things about windows or basic hardware. I know what each component does and what makes them better and worse and can assemble a PC, but that's pretty much it.
Other qualifications include a tendency to not get bored by monotone work, willingness to adapt and an overall positive outlook in life. I am currently studying math and biology, and while I wouldn't say I'm very good at either, I'm definitely not bad bad at them.
What career should I pursue? I don't want a lot of money, but I want to live comfortably. One big thing is also that I don't want to take my work home and I would like it if I could forget about it once I leave my workplace. It could also be a job that I can do online, but only if it has specified hours when I work. That's my main criteria --- I don't want to think about it all day. I want to live a life.
