I can't believe I do this for a living

Does anyone else work a job that is so esoteric or rarefied that you show up everyday and still find it weird that this is what you do for a job?

For example, working a construction or retail job seems straightforward. You put the things in their place and can see the result of your work. If you work in healthcare, you see patients, they get treated, and then they leave.

However, there are many office jobs where you're just caught up in details on a spreadsheet all day that have no meaning outside of the workplace. Where do the numbers go? What does it mean? Who does this matter to? It's a weird feeling!
