My team at work is trying to hire more people, and today HR sent out an email encouraging us to send them referrals. Well in the email, they mentioned that the position starts at $55k. This is for the same position that I'm in, and when I got hired, I got $54k and am still making this much. I know $1k may not be a big deal, but if the new employees are getting $55k, I feel like I should have my pay increased to match.
Should I bring this up with my manager? How should I approach this topic? I've never really been good at salary negotiation, so any help is appreciated!
