Job said they’d get back to me “Tuesday, Wednesday the latest.” When should I follow up?

I still haven’t heard from them, and it’s Wednesday evening after hours. They said they would get back to us whether or not we got the job. What does this mean and when should I follow up?

My partner and I had a tentative trip planned for our anniversary this Friday (road trip) that we were going to cancel if I got the job and had to start Monday (they’re hiring a bunch of people and training all at once, so I can’t just ask to start later).

What should we do?

EDIT TO ADD: when I got past the screener and the first interview, I found out earlier or on the day they told me they’d let me know.
