Hi,
Several months ago my company announced a policy to be 100% remote even after the pandemic. The head of HR said we could go anywhere in the continental USA (I work for a giant company with tax structures in every state) so I decided to make a change and move west after fourteen years in my old city.
I signed a lease last week and this week we suddenly got a new CEO that said she wants to switch back to the office located in my old city. I have HR on the record but does it matter?
I won't be the only one impacted but I'm worried. It was expensive moving and I'm still adjusting so to lose my job would be a nightmare.
Should I pay my lease cancel fee (it's huge) and go back to my old city before I finish settling in here? Nothing has happened yet but it's coming.
Thank you.
