Is it a bad sign if HR person doesn’t ask salary expectations during initial screening?

Got me wondering if they didn’t ask because they didn’t care because they think I’m a hell no.

Also, do HR people reply back to little thank you emails? I sent a couple (very succinct and direct, no fluff) and didn’t get a reply but got a follow up interview for some of them.
