I realized I don’t have the correct educational diploma (not degree) and got the job. They mentioned it is an asset. I’m scared they might find out. Would it be a big problem in my case?

I obtained a 2-year Business diploma. I was in the process of completing the 3-year business administration diploma, but I never completed it. It has been almost 10 years ago, and I completely remember it wrong that I actually don’t have the business administration diploma. On my resume, I put down I have a business administration diploma. If I put down correct diploma I think they would still hire me based on my experience and skills.

I was applying for jobs desperately, and applied for everything I could. I applied for this job that requires the experience. I do have the experience (5+years). Looking back at the job posting, it is an asset to have a bachelor of business administration or something equivalent. I guess you don’t have to have it, but it’s nice to have. The position I am in definitely don’t require any certificate/diploma to do the job. I only remember I don’t have the business administration diploma was because they have an automated system that asked for a copy of your diploma. However, I was told by HR that it is not necessary to upload it and this step can be skipped/ignored.

Everything is fine for now. No one asked about my education background, and only care to know about my work-related experience. I also heard they were having a hard time hiring someone with experience. In fact, they hired another person with a bachelor degree in psychology (nothing related also not equivalent I guess), and this person has no experience. This individual was hired based on her connection.

I work for a big company. Everyone has some sort of business administration diploma/degree or, a university degree. Seems like I’m the only one who has a 2-year business diploma. I am sure I can do the job well, and I don’t think anyone would question. I have the experience and knowledge. I’m just worried if I get promoted to a managerial position, or any position that’s higher up they might need to confirm.
