I didn’t get the job, but they asked me to interview with a different position with the same company
I applied to an entry-level position and I went through three interview rounds. (One 45 minute phone call, a 4 hour “edit test” and a half hour zoom call with her and four other hiring managers). I thought it went pretty well, and the main interviewer who was my point of contact said she would be circling back to me with updates. I reached out to her with a follow up cause she was taking a while and she ended up telling me that they finished hiring for the role that I applied for. However, she put me in touch with a different person in her department who was hiring for a similar position on her team. Interviewer #1 said that she and other hiring managers were impressed with my skills and qualifications but I guess wanted to see if I was a better fit on the other team. Anyways, Interviewer #2 had me go through the first two interviews rounds (as stated above), and the woman said that she would like to move me to the final round. Funnily enough, she emailed me a couple of hours later saying that a third one won’t be necessary because I had already met and spoke to the other hiring managers. Interviewer #2 told me that she would be letting me know about my application status early next week.
So um, I’m just trying to think realistically here. Could I have a shot? I guess I’m just curious if anyone here has thoughts they could share on this. I have no idea what HR could be thinking on the other side of the process. Also, I’m pretty sure that this job was not posted externally. Any advice or insight would be helpful. Thank you! :)
