Hi all,
I started a new job at a startup this week! I am only in the office 2 days a week. When I asked if there will be a company laptop, the hiring manager said "that depends on job needs, etc.".
I am pretty concerned about using my personal laptop on a company network. Like 99% of young guys, I do have NSFW sites in my browser history....
In an ideal world, I would just ask my boss for a company laptop. But I am hesitant. I don't want to ask for a significant expense coming right out of the gate, and they are allowing me to only be in the office 2 days a week. And I did negotiate hard on my salary and they are paying a pretty penny to have me. My boss is really nice and I'm sure my request would ultimately be approved, but just because I am brand spanking new, I want to make as little waves and drama as possible.
So essentially, I wouldn't mind paying appx. $400 or less for a laptop used exclusively for work, for the 2 days I am in the office. $400 or less is totally doable for me, and Id much rather spend this out of pocket than bring anything up at work.
Any recommendations? I will need Microsoft Office products, so don't think a Chromebook will cut it. I assume the laptop will need to handle other run-of-the mill business programs as necessary.
Thanks.
