I have been an Administrative Assistant for the past 10 years supporting many different levels of companies. My goal has always been to become an Executive Assistant, but my "lack" of experience stops me. My past/current job descriptions match 100% of all EA roles, but I don't have the EA job title making it my only disadvantage. Over the past 2 months, I've had 7 interviews and have all gotten the "this was a really hard decision.." "we ultimately chose someone who has more experience" etc etc. It's always the same thing. I've tried to describe the person I am, my work ethic, how I know I am competing against others who have the "job title experience" although my experience is identical, but it seems like it is not enough.
Can someone shed some light on how to advance when you don't have the "experience" that companies are looking for?
