Is it possible to run a Background check on yourself?

I wanted to know if it were possible to run a background check similar to what potential employers do when looking for a new job? I feel like it would make it easier when putting dates and info down for past employers and help with finding potential problems before they arise later in the hiring process? Has anyone done this before? Any recommendations for services or websites that can do this?
