I just got a job offer and the type of work is more in line with what I want to do in the future and what my degree was in. The offer is similar money to how much I am making now, but for me it isn't really about the money. The job is also much closer to me, (its about a 15-20 min commute each way rather than 45-60 minutes) and I get to work from home a few days a week, rather than going into the office full time (side note: we were telecommuting completely at my current job until the start of this year when they pulled us in full time. right when COVID was at it's peak, lovely).
Here comes the dilemma: when should I turn in my two weeks? I've been told that Friday is often the best. My boss is going on vacation entire next week so idk if I want to "ruin" it for her. Should I turn it in when she's gone or would that be even worse? I know this will be a big blow for her since she's been training me for a little over 2 months now on some processes she wants to hand off to me.
Does anyone have any advice as to how I should frame turning in my two weeks as well? How about responding to potential counteroffers?
