I got laid off in December 2019 after 9 months at a tech company, allegedly not for performance, but they really made me feel like an idiot there. Of course, COVID has made it difficult to find a job and I've mostly been living off unemployment. The truth is that I've basically just been relaxing/avoiding the pandemic, but I worry that long gap on my resume, plus my bunch of short-term jobs/internships prior to that, mean I'll never get a professional job again.
I honestly didn't even start looking for jobs until like a month ago, mainly out of thinking no one was hiring, but if people ask I say I've been working on creative projects and doing gig economy work just to seem interesting.
Is there any hope or am I basically doomed to retail for life?
