A little about myself. I graduated college with a BS in Business Administration with a Minor in Economics and a Concentration in Marketing. I graduated college about a year ago and still am struggling to find anything. The experience I have in this field include a 3 month marketing internship and freelance digital marketing work I am doing for a family friend.
I was in a phone screening interview for a buyer position, later to find out that I was replace by someone with 30+ years experience in the field (this was last year around June when the pandemic hit).
The total amount of jobs I have applied to now is around 70. I mainly apply to jobs in the marketing field now as well. Why I am mainly posting this is for opinions on this one job I have had 2 interviews with. This job is a marketing assistant entry level job that I applied for back in January 2021. I have done a 1 hour interview with the hiring manager (was suppose to be 30 min) and I thought I nailed it, however, I later found out through emails back and forth that I was no longer considered for the position. Around a month later I get a call from the same company asking if I was still interested and that they needed more employees for the position and when I can start. At this point I am pretty positive and think I might get a job offer. I call back and tell them that I am still interested and give them a date for when I can start. They tell me they will contact me for the next steps of the process. Through more and more emails back and forth I found out that they were considering me for a second interview but decided to go with other candidates. Once again, they email me a week later after saying they were not interested in me and wanted to schedule a 2nd interview with the same hiring manager. I did the 2nd interview which was shorter (around 27 min) and near the end of the interview the hiring manager said she will provide me with an assignment I would need to turn in next week at sometime. I ask exactly when this assignment will need to be due and she said she will send me the assignment and info on the due date in a email that night. It has been 2 days and I still have not received anything. I emailed the person setting up the interviews the day after the 2nd interview and just said things like "thank you for setting up the 2nd interview" and "I am excited to get working on the assignment". She replied saying how she will let me know the next steps when she receives them from the hiring manager.
Sorry that was really long and detailed. I am just confused to what I should expect if I still haven't received the assignment after the interview. I also forgot to mention that the interviewer said if I do well on the assignment there will be another interview after that. Should I be concerned at all about how this company is handling this?
