I had the job in the bag, until I suddenly didnt...

I struggle with PTSD & GAD so I was thrilled when I found a receiving job with a large retailer working the dock, as theres not a lot of potential triggers. I got through the entire hiring process, and they loved me. Then I received the background check paperwork which, by signing, gives the employer - their current 11 subsidiaries - thousands of affiliates - & any future subsidiaries or affiliates, unbridled legal consent to background check me at any time for the duration of employment.

I explained that I couldnt bring myself to give such broad legal consent & requested accommodation by limiting consent to just my employer, at any time, for the duration of employment. Nope! It was all or no job. I cant believe people actually sign away their privacy like that, with or without gad. So, ya, still need a job but now I struggle with going through the entire process just to find out the next potential employer wants me to so broadly relinquish my privacy too. Any tips on how to get around this? Or perhaps, how to determine if an employer requires the same?
