My wife(22F) and I(23M) just moved to a new city and she is looking for work. She is a cosmetologist and has a few interviews lined up at different hair salons but they all seem like a scam to me. She had one today where she had to come in for 4 hours to get a feel for the salon, meeting the other stylist, and costomers. She ending up working for over 7 hours doing actual work with zero compensation and they want her to do another one next week. She feels like it was fine but I am feel like she needs to ask for compensation, especially if she doesn't get the job.
She has an interview at a different salon on Wednesday and she will need to bring someone that way she can do their hair so they can she if she knows what she is doing. The issue is that the person will still have to pay for the service, the price is reduced but will still be around $60 to $100. There is no way that she will find someone willing to pay that so if she does the interview it will literally cost us money.
Both of these situation seem very sketchy and scammy to me. What do you all think she should do?
