Long story short, I work a customer service gig as tier 2 support. I handle things like billing, account maintenance, and angry customers.
I found out from another employee who's tier 1 and got hired at the same exact time as me make only $1.00 less than I do, and I have twice the responsibility.
I like my job (for the most part) and am good at it, but I'm really pissed about the compensation aspect.
The job is stressful for all, but due to having more responsibility, I feel incredibly burnt out and just all around frustrated.
I spoke to the department head about feeling overworked and underpaid. He gave me this whole speech on how they're shifting things around so we don't feel overworked and underpaid. He also encouraged me to take time off, but when I tried, I got denied and had to wait until the following week. This was prior to me finding out that I only make $1 more, and honestly, the things he told me just sounded like lip service.
I've been thinking about asking for a demotion but I'm not really sure how to go about it. I'm not even sure if I should ask or just start looking elsewhere. I feel like they'll deny my request for a demotion anyway. It sucks because I've only been there for 4 months.
Not sure what to do. All I know is that I'm tired, stressed, and the $1 difference isn't worth it to me whatsoever.
