Get a promotion in a field I am not happy with?

Hey all,

Here’s the thing. I’m in sales. I hate it, it’s not for me. I’d rather be working behind the scenes not with customers but here I am. I do a good job, but the position I am in has a lot to be improved on.

I have an interview for a higher up sales role and if I get it, there may be less BS.

The only problem is I still would much rather do a merchandising or marketing role.

They do not have any future postings for those roles yet, so do I wait for that to appear, or potentially take this sales role I won’t be thrilled about and get paid more?
