Why do they justify wanting overly smart qualified people because they think their systems are too complex to be handled by someone at the right level? Then these people suffer from boredom, lack of accomplishment or feeling like a nobody. And the rest can’t get an entry level job at all.
An interesting thing I noticed, is that it really makes you step down your thinking and efficiency to actually go dumb and fit that role.
One example is accountants that couldn’t move out of admin work. Forget accounting...You want accounting? Watch the rest of us do what you know how to do while you get buried in data entry and processes.
Employers need to be honest about what they need. Don’t tell me I’ll be “so important” if I’ll do data entry. Don’t tell me I’ll get my CPA if I have to clean up after disrespectful salesmen all day.
Don’t oversell your company roles and don’t take people with many years of experience in roles that the Co-ops used to do. No kidding.
I just wasted 7 years to see people who haven’t yet graduated rotate through finance departments while I do their data entry. Well, ok..2 of those years I held a lead role, but employers don’t care about your experience either.
