I’m pretty desperate at this point, guys. I’ve been searching jobs for months. I’ve been searching and searching, and I’ve only ever gotten minimum wage jobs. Which would be something, but I can’t pay my rent with what I’m getting paid.
Employers keep dragging me. I perfect my resume to the letter, I research the company, I speak enthusiastically, I research the job itself and give every detail back. They drag me out to some buildings, so I can waste precious gas on an hour long interview that will just turn me down a week later under a canned email. They throw me into multi-stage interviews, only to say they found a “better candidate” right before the last stage or being brought on. On top of all the scammers polluting job boards now. It feels like, due to covid, employers don’t have to try anymore. They don’t have to discern between different workers because of the surplus of jobless people.
I’m so depressed lately. I feel fucking worthless. I’m trying to get an education, and just enough to pay rent. Yesterday, I put in all the effort I could to have a great interview with a company that contacted me. The person I was interviewing with said I did really well. I was ecstatic, before I got a canned email the next day. To fucking tell me they found a better fucking candidate. I had applied to that same company over the past 4 months to different job openings.
I even protested, I sent back a reply email, saying “may I ask why? My interviewer said I was getting passed onto another interview.”, with the same canned response, with a “best of luck on your job search”. I wanted to say more, but I know they didn’t care. No one does.
Where/how have you guys been getting jobs? Please, I need serious answers or any advice. I’m struggling incredibly hard and I don’t know what to do.
