Should I follow up?

Hi everyone,

Recently, I applied for a job, and the following is the timeline of events:

- Pre-screening interview

- Scheduled 1st interview (received feedback same day from HR, and advised of next steps)

- Few days later, scheduled 2nd interview (received feedback same day from HR, and advised of next steps).

- I was told the final steps are reference checks (survey) and online testing.

Now the last conversation was on Friday, before the long weekend here in Australia. I had my references sorted by Sunday (they completed them) and I did the testing on Sunday. When I spoke to HR on Friday, they told me they would touch base with me Wednesday, after returning from the long weekend (Tuesday was a public holiday and people took Monday off).

It is now Thursday. I'm trying to be patient, and appreciate things go up and down every now and then. Is it too early to follow up the HR person? I'd built rapport with them and have had great conversations with them so far. I just don't want to come across as nosy / bothersome.

TLDR: reached final stage of job interview, was told I'd be contacted on Wednesday and yet to hear back, should I follow up?
