Hey all, I'm stuck at a backerboard manufacturing company. We work 10.5 hr shifts 4 days a week sometimes, 5 if we're behind production. My job requires my full attention apparently. It's all automated and we basically watch boards being processed with minimal interaction. Me, the two guys I work with and the boss pretty much stand around moderately loud machines with earplugs in. This is my first ever stable job. I hop around alot and my training is expected to take 3 months. My boss desperately needs bodies. No phones allowed on the floor. My question is, how do people occupy themselves in this line of work? One guy has been here for 7 years, the boss 20+ I believe, and one 10 year left right when I started in order to work at UPS. I don't mind sticking around because I get paid decently, plus the pay is weekly as well. Any suggestions to boost my mood during the shift? I personally just spend alot of time thinking about whatever comes to mind. Bills, funny stuff, going home, school etc. Any suggestions?
