Unemployed or Out of Luck?

I'll start by just saying that yes, I know I'm an idiot, and yes, I know this is my fault. Just interested on your takes of this story.

So in August of 2019 I got hired for part-time work at a golf course until they closed up for the season in early December. I was expected to start again during March/April of 2020. Of course, they didn't open back up then due to COVID. However, I know they opened around May/June and were slowly starting again, and have been open all summer (I've driven by a few times and there are definitely people and employees there).

Now, here's the thing. They never contacted me during this entire year. Not once. Last I heard from them was physically on the property last year when I left. Around July/August I was going to reach out to them since they had been open but did not even have the common decency to let me know what was going on. However, I'm a lazy piece of sh*t and college was starting back up, so I just, kinda, didn't.

Well, the semester is over, its been over a year since I've heard from them, and DoorDash is getting old. I was never too fond of the job and am over it at this point, but my question is- can they do this? I have no idea if I even am still employed by them, but if not I potentially missed out on unemployment this whole time. Honestly, I don't even want to reach out to them at this point cuz I'm stubborn and feel extremely disrespected for being ignored like this- they're a pretty high-class and well-known course, so it's not typical of them to do something like this.

I get that I 100% should have, and probably still should, contact them, but is there anything I can do about them just ignoring me for a whole year? I feel like if I reach out to them, they'll say that I'm still employed and would have to quit- there goes my unemployment chances. But as it is, I have no idea where I stand, but I find it hard to believe it's okay to just ignore an employee and make no effort to reach out. I have no phone calls, texts, emails, or physical mail, so it's obvious I was just ignored or forgotten altogether.

I'm not even sure I could get unemployment for a job like this, or for part-time in general (I'm in CT). But this situation is really odd and I honestly just want to know what you think. I'm not gonna beg for unemployment as there's plenty of work I can get and I very well could've gotten an answer by now, but it would've been nice I suppose just because of how poorly they treated me (not only this but my borderline slave-labor when I was actually working there). What they did was wrong in any sense- even if they didn't need me, they definitely should have let me know. When it comes down to it, though, I don't need the money, and I know I hold a lot of blame here, so it is what it is.

Proceed to throw expletives in my face, I deserve it for this post. Thanks.

TLDR: I worked at a golf course last year and was supposed to come back this season but never did- they have not reached out to me since last year. What should I do here (obviously call them but)?
