My contract for the job I have been working at over the Christmas period (retail) was due to expire in early January, and I was told earlier in the week that it will likely be extended. This morning though, I woke up and got a call from a different employee telling me that my contract hasn't been picked up, and I'll be let go upon the expiration. Many of the people who work there now on a permanent level started as temporary, and were given an extension, but not me. It's just been making me wonder if I was bad at the job, or if I did something wrong, or whatever. Have been feeling kinda low about it as I have been enjoying it, and expected an extension.
Is the likelihood that I did something wrong? I'm not really sure what to think, especially considering I was told I'll likely be given an extension just a few days back.
