How do I get my family to accept that my potential career may not be in my academic field?

Ive been job hunting since august, no job yet. But have had interviews. I majored in International relations and did a MSc in International Security. With no experience I found nothing, no interviews.

Since I have sales experience I've been applying to those jobs and have at least had interviews and one second one. My mother doesn't understand why I apply to them as "I haven't sold anything a day in my life".

I love history and my mom tells me to apply for history professor jobs...she is a retired nurse hasn't job hunted in 20 years and obviously I am not gonna get a PHD and no, one cannot be a history professor by "just applying"

The new year is here and im feeling desperate. If I find a job offer and it pays a liveable salary im taking it and moving cross country. My family doesn't really get/understand me applying for jobs not in my academic field but I have no choice and I just want a job.

How do I get my family to understand this? I do not have passion. I want to work and provide for myself, and climb the ladder in the role if I can!
