My girlfriend is an intensive care nurse with an MBA with hopes of going into a higher administrative position. She was given the opportunity to become an assistant manager on a unit with patients who are not as sick as the ones she currently gets (open hearts/cardiopulmonary transplants). As an assistant manager, she will still be dealing with patients and can continue to work her way up into management; however, if she does accept this position, there is no timeline as to when another opportunity for her to advance from that position will arise. We are both worried that she may become bored with the patient population and regret her decision. I see the pros/cons of both sides, so I found it hard to answer her question. I was hoping I could get some advice. TIA.
