Jobs that involve working with kids/young adults if I don’t necessary have an education background? *more details in post*
So my education and work background is primarily media production...working on commercials and some feature films. I wound up teaching a filmmaking/photography class for middle school/high school students and really loved doing it, kept going back and growing it, and students kept coming back. I also sort of thrown into coaching...while I’ll never call myself a championship winning coach, I loved working with the kids, helping them get better, grow as athletes and people. I also taught some as an adjunct professor at a local college.
So what are some options for me? I live in a fairly affluent area, so our ISD’s all have media production teaching jobs, but there are like one per school so you really have to grab em right as they open up. We also have a few technical high schools that have media production programs I have my eye on, although same issue.
I recently got brought on as a full time guest educator for a high school, so at least I am kind of getting my foot in the door that way. I just like working with students, helping them learn, become more thoughtful people, and in some ways I feel like I morally have to help them in some after the last year.
