I have a bit of an issue and want to vent/seek advice.
I lost my job in July. I got a new job in August, but I'm still waiting to start "soon". So it's basically gone too.
On November 30 I interviewed for my dream job, in a fairly specialized field of which I'm uniquely suited, following an employee referral. I've followed up a few times and have been told that I'd hear back "tomorrow, next week, in a few days" but as of yet I have no second interview.
Meanwhile, just last week I had two interviews for a different company and have a third one scheduled for the following Monday. At this pace, I might even get an offer (if at all) before Christmas.
Which puts me in a weird spot. The job I want is moving really slowly, and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if I don't get the interview before the new year. At the same time another job is moving really fast. I might end up with an offer from the one before I even get a second interview from the other, which essentially removes any ability to negotiate or speed things along, but I also don't want to decline the one job on the hope of the other, if it comes to that.
It's just frustrating. One job had a span of 90 minutes between interview 1 and being contacted for interview 2, and the other has had a month and counting.
And I know that the first job is still on the table due to contacts I have there. They're also "moving quickly"...
