Does anybody else find it a bit rude when a coworker quits without saying goodbye?

I don't view my coworkers as friends. We just work together but we're not on bad terms. This is a smaller company with around a dozen guys in my department.

A guy recently quit. That's fine, I don't care. But damn, not even a goodbye? He never even told me or anyone else other than my boss. I found out through a coworker way after the fact. He found out ONLY because my boss randomly mentioned it.

Honestly, at the end of the day I don't really care. But I just think it'd be nice to at least say bye if we talk together as coworkers. When I've quit jobs in the past, I gave a quick heads up to the people who I actually talked to, a little small talk then that was that.
