Counter Offer

I currently work in an office, and have been there for about 6 months. Another company, which i had applied to previously recently reached out abd made a good offer, more than what I make now. I brought this up to my current management and they want to see my offer letter before making a counter offer. I have heard some crazy stories about companies sabotaging offers like this. Is there a way to compromise without putting my current offer at risk?
