Hi all. I'm a 27-year old in data science/analytics at a large tech company looking for a career change come 2021. While my experience is in data science/analytics, I'd like to try something new -- at least for a while.
Three things that interest me are disaster relief (I find logistics really fascinating), international development (was an econ major at UCLA), and anti-corruption efforts (I think the question of how does one "clean up" a corrupt organization really engaging).
I'm currently looking at jobs at the UNHCR, the World Bank, and FEMA but I'm new to exploring these fields so would love recommendations on great orgs to be aware of.
One thing I'm realizing is that my skillset is obviously not completely geared for a lot of postings at these orgs. So while I don't mind starting near the bottom, I'd still want a position that's not at some intern-level. One that recognizes that I have some years of experience but that I'm not a natural lateral move and therefore may need to be more junior. Any positions like that you're aware of would be a great help!
Not concerned necessarily with making money (though I will need at least a salary that covers my rent, food, etc.). Just want to try out something new for a while and you can always go back to "making money" when needed. Thank you all for your help/advice!
