Am I being selfish to my family by moving to a higher paying role?

I have a young family (twins!) and I don't know if now is the right time to move to another job. They (my girls) are a hell of a lot of work and currently my work/life balance is just about right. I'm a hands-on Dad and i don't believe my SO should be doing all of the work. Not only that, but the time I spend, or don't spend, with my family now I won't get back.

However, I'm no longer happy in my current role. I'm way too far into my comfort zone and it feels like I'm standing still. It feels like if I don't move forward, I'd be going backwards. Before you comment, "have you asked for more responsibility / opportunities", yes - been there, done that. It ain't happening at my current employer. In fact, I've just finished delivering the biggest client the company has ever had. And I'm still bored.

What I really want to know is this: does moving to a higher paying/more challenging role mean that I'll have less time with my family? Seems like a silly question. But, in general, from your experience, do higher paying roles require more time, or more expertise (or both)?
