I work at an institution where the moral has been steadily dropping for the past couple of years. I've been getting my ducks all in a row and am ready to start actively looking to get out of Dodge and find new work. I was going to head into my boss' office and ask for a letter of recommendation, however I was a bit shocked to find out he wasn't in his office. He unexpectedly has left the company. For what reason I do not know. I asked around and couldn't find any way to get in contact with him.
So my question is, how do I get a letter of recommendation now from someone who matters? I've worked for the guy for 4 years directly with little to no interaction with other supervisors. What would be an acceptable alternative? I'm worried all my experience and quality work form the last 4 years are now going into the pisser never to be seen again.
