So I feel like I just got punched in the gut...
Got a job offer a couple of weeks ago. They asked to start the next day after getting a verbal offer. I said I needed the written offer letter. I get the written offer the next day for a new start date and try to negotiate salary and PTO but they didn't budge. Because negotiations took up to the day before my new start date, I asked if I would still be starting that day. HR says they would change the start date and update me. After silence for a week, I ask for an update; HR says they sent an update but after checking my spam and trash folders, I say that I don't have any email from them. We talk on the phone and HR says they've had email issues so she'll call today (Monday) to update me. I call today since it's already late afternoon and I haven't heard back and leave a voicemail asking for an update. Later I get an email from HR saying they're moving on looking for another candidate for the position and has decided to go another direction.
When I negotiated, I asked for 10-15% from what they offered so I thought it was a decent range to ask. And I was fine when they didn't budge. I'm just pissed that I have to go through the job hunt again, they're still looking for candidates AND they had told me before that they were hiring multiple people. I left a voicemail to HR stating I was still very interested in the position and wanted to discuss it but I highly doubt they'll respond. Also, eff at-will employment. Companies have way too much power. Sigh.
