Has anyone here actually successfully used LinkedIn for a job?

Outside of applying on LinkedIn, has anyone used LinkedIn successfully? I mean in terms of networking, messaging people, actually connecting with people?

With this recent job search, I started to think outside the box and get aggressive with LinkedIn due to it being highly praised. It seems my messages never get read or ignored.
