Do I, as a manager get to choose my hours?

I’m a new manager of a warehouse that went from hourly at my old job to salary at my new job. My department is open from 7-4 and though nothing has been specifically stated in my contract I’ve been coming in the entire day for the past few months during my probation. I’ve noticed other managers seem to float around, come in late, leave early etc. However my work hours are starting to affect me and I’ve been asked multiple times by the VP to stay for 10-12 hours some days.

Doing the math my salary though higher than what I was making hourly is less with the amount of hours I’ve been asked to work, a part of me just wants to find another job as my personal hours revolves around studying which has taken a massive hit.

Just wondering if any other managers could give me some insights, I wouldn’t mind if I made extra money for staying over but I don’t, do I just have an hourly worker mindset? Salary sucks if so.
