Internship and then rejected for full-time

Hi Reddit,

I am a Masters student graduating (possibly) next April. During my time as a student getting a BSE in Electrical Engineering, I interned at a company. I then interned again for the same company and project team during my senior year transitioning in my Masters. At the end of my second internship, I went through a technical interview for the full-time position where I was a disaster (wasn’t answering questions right, had some basic concepts messed up, the whole anxiety bundle). And then I am rejected based on my interview. I can’t say I didn’t see it coming, because I kind of did, but it still hurts that I spent 2 summers with the team and was rejected in the end.

I need some comfort, but mostly I need to thicken my skin and ask for advice.

I should be graduating in April, but now I’m not so sure because of the pandemic. I have been applying for jobs (about 5 a week since the start of September), but there hasn’t even been a inkling of an interview. Would it be better to switch gears at some point and apply for internships then study another semester/year? I have the ability to be flexible on what I choose, but I honestly can’t tell how the electronics hardware job market is doing.
