Was told I’d be contacted today about “next steps” - hiring manager contacted a reference but I haven’t heard anything?
Hi guys,
I recently have been interviewing for a position. I was actually originally rejected after 2 interviews but the hiring manager reached back out a few weeks later saying that I was a strong finalist and that new positions similar to the one I had applied for had opened up. I talk with him and the two team members I also talked to on a 4-way Zoom call for about 35 minutes - this was a third interview with standard questions. The manager emailed me later that day saying I had moved on to the finalist stage, which was a phone call with the General Manager (his boss). This was more easy-going, and she only asked one real question - another question she asked was “what was the last book you read”. I asked almost as many questions as she did. I thought it went super well. Both she and the hiring manager said I’d be contacted today (Friday) about next steps.
In the meantime, the hiring manager asked for a couple of references and a potential start date. I give him a couple references and one of them texted me this morning saying he talked to him and that he gave me a really good review and that it went really well. But I still haven’t heard anything from the manager.
I know I’m probably thinking way too much into this, but it just sucks that it’s 99% gonna be hanging over the weekend. Would you guys say it’s likely I’ll still be offered the position? Or is there a potentially worrying cause for the delay? Thanks!
